'Anything Goes'
The Market House Theatre proudly presents 'Anything Goes', a play directed by Diane Byrd, with musical director Patt Lynch and Denise Bristol as assistant director. The play will run June 12-15, 19-22, 26-29. Performance times are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays June 14 and June 21 at 2:30 pm and all Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $17 regular admission and $14 for military personnel and seniors.
Tap dancing, Cole Porter music and a great comic love story will set sail for the MHT stage as we present the hilarious 1940’s classic ANYTHING GOES! The story takes place aboard a cruise ship bound from New York to England. There is a boatload of very unusual passengers! Comic misadventures and romantic entanglements will keep audiences entertained aboard the magical ship where “ANYTHING GOES!” The terrific Cole Porter tunes include “I Get A Kick Out of You”, “It’s De-Lovely” “All Through the Night”, “You’re the Top”, and “Blow Gabriel Blow”.

Funding for Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Atlas Metals and the City
On Tuesday, June 24, Commissioners approved a municipal order that provides a cash grant of $10,000 to Atlas Metals LLC. In a MOU between the City, Atlas Metals, and GPEDC (Greater Paducah Economic Development Council), Atlas Metals is expanding its existing company (Atlas Roofing) to include a new metal manufacturing operation (Atlas Metals) at 801 Jones Street in Paducah. The facility will be 12,000 square feet, and the company proposes to hire 4 to 6 new employees by the end of 2009. The company is investing approximately $800,000 in the building and equipment, and expects sales to exceed $1,000,000 per year after the first year. The City is also providing a little more than a thousand dollars to Atlas fro permits and licensing fees. To learn more, visit:
Commissioners approved an ordinance to accept a bid from Magic Ice, USA in the amount of $92,500 for a temporary ice rink for this winter in downtown Paducah. The downtown location has not been determined at this point. The rink would be open in November and be open through mid-January. Magic Ice will provide and help set up the rink and provide the ice skates and an ice repair machine. The City has a one year contract with Magic Ice that is renewable for three years at the same price. During this past winter, Downtown Development Director, Steve Doolittle, and Parks Services Director, Mark Thompson, visited a similar ice rink in Owensboro, Kentucky.
