Paducah Public Schools

Academic excellence is a tradition in Paducah Public Schools, the independent school district created by the citizens of Paducah in 1864. That tradition is a source of pride, hence our motto:    Academic Excellence, Tradition and Pride.

Nineteen students at Paducah Tilghman High School have earned the designation of AP Scholar by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program® (AP®) Exams.

Tilghman has offered Advanced Placement couses since 1989. Students can earn three hours of free college credit for each AP test they pass, since the school reimburses test costs for passing scores.

16 AP courses are offered on ONE campus at Tilghman - art, biology, calculus, chemistry, English language, English literature, European history, French, German, government, music theory, physics, psychology, Spanish, U.S. history and world history. Tilghman honor students routinely take eight or more AP classes.

Paducah Tilghman High School is among the 3 oldest high schools in Kentucky that have been accredited by SACS since 1913.
